JEAN SHOP >>> BACK TO BASIC - RAW & UNCUT

Directly from New York’s Meatpacking District the jeanswear label Jean Shop sells one of the most covetable denims. From the beginning in 2003 the goal of founder Eric Goldstein was to go back to basics: simple blue jeans made from good materials with a subtle hint of authenticity. Only premium Japanese selvedge denim is used and every piece is hand-stitched in the USA.

Nigel Cabourn Spring/Summer 2012 exclusively at 14 oz. basement

For vintage lovers, a visit to Nigel Cabourn’s exclusive presentation at the 14 oz. basement is an absolute must-visit. Season after season, the British designer transforms historical treasures from his amazing archive into contemporary, pioneering garments.

His designs reflect his deep passion for detail and heritage. The signature pieces of the new collection were the uniforms of Field Marshal Montgomery, the leader of the so-called “Desert Rats” during Second World War. Africa’s hot climate demanded particular equipment features, comfortable tailoring and lightweight materials – requirements that Cabourn translated into summery items made from linen, cotton drill and loosely woven cotton. These fabrics are new interpretations of traditional military clothing and provide lightweight and breathable garments.

A specially developed camouflage pattern is key to the collection and used for a number of important styles. A pair of British Army-vintage trousers, which Cabourn literally bought off the legs of a Japanese man in Tokyo many years ago served as inspiration. Bombay Bloomers are further highlights of the collection for not only a historical reason: Cabourn’s father wore similar trousers during WWII in Burma.

Alongside blazers, vests, shirts, shorts, bags, jackets and trousers from Nigel Cabourn one also find a sharp selection of Viberg Boots, the exciting new footwear addition for the new season at 14 oz., as well as an exclusive line of travel bags by Filson and a selection of the original military belts from Dukes Finest Vintage Artisan.

Also for this season the authentic undergarment label Merz b. Schwanen teamed up with Nigel Cabourn again, combining the traditional way of circular knitting with Nigel Cabourn's knowledge of British workwear history. The striking result is a long and a short sleeve granddad shirt in the exclusive colors bright green, corn and army as well as a men's vest available in the colors corn, army and white.
